| Patriotism for the National Flag |
|
During the marches/parades of national events, holding the flag and marching with the flag is also a way of honouring the flag. The people carrying the flag or protecting the flag mast must always make sure the flag isn’t damaged and that the flag mast doesn’t tilt.
When the duty of carrying the flag is done, the person must place the flag in the appropriate place or hand it over to someone with the authority to take it. A person who carries the flag will never let go of the flag no matter what situation arises even during a situation where their life is at risk. These persons have the patriotism for the flag and symbolize the fall or tilt of the flag as a disgrace to the country and the downfall of that country. In ancient times, the patriotism the Tamil people had for their flag is outlined in historical texts. |
